My first ever newspaper article 5Apr08

Chances are slim you saw the article bellow in today’s AD newspaper, but I want to mention it anyway. It is the first ever article I wrote which was published in a newspaper.

Ok, it’s not some intellectual piece about some country far away but nonetheless I think it is cool to see your name appear next to an article in a national distributed newspaper. It’s about the new Photoshop Express webapp and if you want to read it in the paper you can find it on page 21 of the Weekend section in today’s AD edition.

New dinner table 13Jul07

new table

Our new table arrived today. Quite nice smile. Ate at the garden dinner table for 2 weeks but moved the thing outside again last night. This new table has mixed wood all over just like our 2 small coffee tables, thus matches nicely. Berit seems to be the first to enjoy the table!

Doe Maar, the musical 22May07

After winning 5 musical awards last night, the Dutch Musical Doe Maar was the big winner of the night. Yvonne was watching the show and had to maintain her composure for something I was about to find out the next day.

This morning during breakfast I received 2 presents, after all it is my birthday today wink, one was a book which is very welcome to take with me on vacation next month and the other present were 2 tickets to the Musical Doe Maar for tonight! I didn’t even notice Yvonne was holding back on her enthusiasm last night. Opa and Oma are babysitting tonight so Yvonne and I can go to the Isala Theater to watch the show. After winning 5 awards the show must be good, right? Anyway, I am looking forward to it, if the arrangement (letting the songs tell a story) is as good as the Abba musical Mama Mia, this could be a fun night.

Moving to New York 1Apr07

After a month of silence here on the weblog I have some exciting news to share. Yvonne, Berit, Livia and I are moving to New York. Yes the Big Apple, USA. I was offered a job at a big advertising agency a while ago (it was december 2006 actually) and after thinking about it for a long time we decided to give this a shot.

Manhattan

This summer we will be moving to Manhattan, the upper west side to be exact. Our address will be 266 West 71st Street, New York. Our new place is a restored, 19th century townhouse. It is a semi furnished home featuring a double-jacuzzi on a raised platform, working fireplace, a private outdoor terrace and a baby grand piano. There are three floors with plenty of space for a family of 4 people. Cool place, right? The subway is only 2 blocks away so traveling to work will be fine.

Even Central Park is only three blocks away. We have to sort out a lot of paperwork to realise this move, we will be busy with that the coming weeks.

It’s a girl…!!! 16Mar06

Het is een meisje…

I am building my own little harem, or so it seems. I will be living in a house with 4 girls (one of those is feline, lol) so I am impossibly outnumbered smile ...

Wedding day Ingrid & Joost 21Aug05

Last Friday my sister in law Ingrid married her Joost. I am still tired after 2 days smile, but it was a very happy and fun day. Pictures here and here.

Strange new things 12Aug05

When starting at a new company you always experience new work environment related objects you might have not seen before. For instance I never encountered a light switch in the toilets that counts down (from 10 to 1 to save electricity costs). Also have you ever seen a patio inside a building where you can relax and take a break (in a work related environment)?

Patio in the AKN building

Other strange things noticed are ATM machines (pin automaten) inside the building to charge your ID card for use in the cafeteria. I could go on and on ... life is full of surprises!
